• Do I have to know how to sew to come to Camp Fashion Design?
    No! You do not have to know how to sew to come to Camp Fashion Design. Most of our activities revolve around the fashion design process- learning how to sketch, how to select fabric, how to come up with inspirations - so being able to sew is not a must.

  • Will I be able to meet with representatives from fashion design schools?
    Yes! Camp Fashion Design invites reps from all the big NYC fashion design schools to come in and meet with the campers. If you are thinking of a career in fashion design this is a great way to meet face to face with some of the best fashion schools in the industry!

  • I love the show 'Project Runway'! Is camp like this?
    In a way yes! First of all the camp director, Lisa Nargi was on Project Runway herself! Every day at camp there are new challenges just like on the show! You and your team will work together against the clock to win the challenge! And at the end of the boot camp you get to show off your work in a designer fashion show just like on the show!

  • I want to do a photo shoot as well though? Can I do this?
    Yes! All campers attending Camp Fashion Design Camp have the option to add on Photo Shoot Camp – a one day on location photo shoot held on the Saturday following each camp! You get to have your own private shoot with top photographer Maggie Seider who has shot for Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and more…hair and make-up done by top NYC artists…it's really cool and you get some AMAZING pictures!

  • I'm more interested in modeling than designing – where can I go?

  • What is the staff/camper ratio?
    The staff/camper ratio will vary depending on the activity - but generally is between 1:8 - 1:10.

  • If I am coming from out of town - do I have to stay in the hotel where the camp is located?
    Absolutely not! Camp Fashion Design attracts just as many local campers as we do out of town campers - so if you stay somewhere else, you will definitely not be the only one not staying in the hotel. It's usually about a 50/50 split on who stays there and who does not.

  • Is lunch included?
    Yes. Your lunch is included in your session fees so you do not have to bring any food with you.

  • What if I have a food allergy?
    Don't worry! Camp Fashion Design can accommodate any food allergy. Just have your parents notify us of the allergy ahead of time on the registration form and we will make sure that you have a lunch that is safe for you!

  • Do I have to bring anything with me to camp?
    Yes - a few basic items are needed. Before camp you will be mailed a 'Welcome Packet' which will have all the information you will need for the week in it. This will include a list of 'Things To Bring To Camp'.
